Kidde Fire Protection has introduced a system using an environmentally acceptable agent with zero ozone depletion potential (ODP). The system uses FM – 200® from Great Lakes Chemical Corporation. After exhaustive trials by Kidde Fire Protection research scientists, FM – 200® has emerged as one of today’s most viable replacements for halon 1301. FM – 200® (heptafluoropropane) meets the strict criteria necessary for an extinguishant used to flood an occupied area.
